Hi Guys
I have recently got my ADSL 384K enabled and am about to purchase a modem/router.
I have an X-Box and would like to connect to xbox live.I would also like to link my dad's computer to the internet.
If i purchased the following modem/router would i be all set ?

Billion 5102 ADSL2+ Modem/Router with 4-Port Switch

The only other functionality i will require is to use it to vpn in to my machine at work to do some work on standby weeks.
Ps- dont worry i will also be ordering a microfilter ;-)
Thanks for any help guys. What a great forum.....

The 5102 supports VPN pass-through, but I think for your application (for support weeks) you will be better off with the 7402 or 7402G (wireless).

The 7402 range establishes the VPN itself and its made possible using PPTP, L2TP or IPSec. (I'd propose you go for L2TP - easy setup and secure)

Obviously your dad's PC won't be a problem (neither would it have been with the 5102), as all units sports a 4-port switch?

As far as Xbox go, I do not have the slightest idea of how to set it up, but I'm sure it will be supported and you'll probably need Qos. The 7402 has a brilliant Qos feature and also 3Des accelerator for VPNs.

I'm sure someone here on the forum will be able to help you, or maybe give it a google.
