mmm... just more power... nothing new... yawn... wake me up when 3D cards can make coffee please? ;)

honestly, the next step into gaming evolution is Physics CPU's, 3D cards are reaching their peak at the moment.
 
yeah yeah it will probably beat the 7800GTX into the ground, but I dont know if that really has NVidia in a flat spin panic. To me it seems they're more worried about capturing the market. What will be interesting however, is if one X900XT PE will beat 2 X 7800GTX's SLI'd... :rolleyes:

I really like their approach ever since the release of the 6600GT. And releasing the 7800GTX on the same day that its announced is juts brilliant business IMHO. Many enthusiasts are getting tired with ATI's paper launches, and want the most powerful card ASAP and NVidia have these okes now.
 
I think 7800GTX SLI will still beat it. But I think Nvidia still has something up their sleave. There are rumours that they can unlock more pipelines and were only waiting for ATI. I'd like to see what power consuption size and weights will work out too. Nvidia did well in these areas with the 7800 GTX.
 
Well a while back I read in an interview with Nvidia that they are not worried about ATI because they said they had a "sledgehammer" in the wings to counter anything ATI could bring out.

Also I have not seem any concrete specs for the ATI cards so I will wait till they are released.

They should stop seeing who can pee the furthest and start focussing on cards that people can actually afford to buy! I don't think it's reasonable to have to pay the price of 2 PS2's for an add-in card, just to be able to play modern games.
 
Agreed. Hopefully with the introduction of the 7800GTX and the X900 the previous elite cards will see a drop in price. I'd would like to get a 6800GT now for R3000, then I'd be happy.
 
True, these new cards are very expensive and the price does not justify the boost in performance. Maybe you will soon get 6800GT's for +-R2500 like I did. No one in their right mind would pay more than double for a 7800GTX that is only 30% faster.

I am a little biased though, never liked ATI.
 
Toxin why? You can pick one up in the US for ~R2200? R3000 is a rip off. South Africans are getting screwed on PC hardware wholesale.
 
a second hand 6600GT maybe ?

I have one and it serves my BF2 purposes neatly :)

I got my eye set on an ASUS one and the ASUS wholesalers really shaft you badly most of the time. Haven't bought online yet. You had any hassles with it yet? :confused:

just under 4 grand for a state of the art grafix card - I suppose that's sort've
ok, if you're a serious Gamer - given the ripoff prices locally - may as well ask
someone travelling to/from the US to buy it, and bring it in for you.

If you order online, you may still get hit for duties when the bitches open
the package at the local post office/customs. Someones pocket or suitcase is
always better and faster..

CompUSA are a rip-off - a bit like our own Incredible Corruption

You can get a BFG Geforce 7800GTX for $500 from Dell Home (when they have the special offers) or Newegg.
