Hi,

Can anyone help me out with the following problem?

I'm using an Imate with MTN GPRS and I want to setup an email account on the device to send an receive email from a @telkomsa.net email account.

Thanks to other forum posters I know that the outgoing server needs to be mail.mtn.co.za and using this I have successfully sent email, BUT, using pop3.telkomsa.net as the incoming server I am unable to receive email.

The error I get on the device reads 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.'

The same device is happily receiving email from a gmail account via the gmail pop server.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Have you double checked you settings ? I have a HP ipaq hw6515 on mtn and send and recieve from 3 accounts and have no problem.

Double checked and triple checked. With a few different devices and vodacom gprs as well.
I only get the problem with pop3.telkomsa.net, all other pop3 servers seem to work fine.

Mail issue

Hi

I have tested a telnet to pop3.telkomsa.net on port 25 and 110 and the connectivity is ok

!
telnet 196.25.211.150 25
Trying 196.25.211.150, 25 ... Open
220 telkomsa.net ESMTP Welcome to the TelkomSA SMTP Server.
!
telnet 196.25.211.150 110
Trying 196.25.211.150, 110 ... Open
+OK <[email protected]>
!

Problem solved.. sort of.

I downloaded a freeware mail client (nPOP) and it has no problem downloading email from the telkomsa account.

Looks like the problem is with the default PocketPC email client.

Go figure...
