On my landline I subscribe to the mailmanager plus service, and receive emailed copies of my voice messages. This can be extremely useful and can be turned on and off as required. Especially useful when travelling abroad. Only concern is they are sent as wav files and would be much better if compressed.

So have I missed something, or is it odd that a similar service is not available from the cellphone companies? Compressed MP3 versions of messages when roaming would be an extremely useful service, or are they just too keen to make money from us when we roam?

Anyone know whether or not this is a prospect on any of the SA mobile networks?

Does Telkom offer this service? I have never heard of it before. How much does it cost a month?

Maybe Vodacom3G can answer your question from the Vodacom side.

Look at this. But be advised that it currently does not work. I was subscribed to Mailbox Plus and, to make a long story short, was told that they were experiencing technical difficulties and the service was not available until further notice.

So the short answer to your question is no.
