Red light on b315

But not once have I received feedback other than we have sent the info to rain and will advise.

I am just stating the facts of my experience. Not that it matters as this month is my last with Rain ;)

Which service are you switching to? If you don't mind me asking.

Considering my options... If I cancel because of this issue, do I still have to pay the R999 for the "free" router?

And still no contact at all from the reps here or the critical care team. 15 days without internet, and counting.

(And if you think these posts are annoying and repetitive, imagine how I feel)

So I finally got a reply - thanks, Afriman, I assume it was due to you following up.

However, after waiting for more than a week, the reply simply asked for more info. The IMEI number, my physical address - ok, that might be relevant. But they also want the SSID and my wifi password! WTH? The problem is on the connecting to Rain side, not my network side! And what use would the SSID and password be, anyway?

20 days without internet and counting....

Glad to hear progress is being made. :) Our Critical Care Team are very thorough with the information they require. In your case, perhaps it was Rain that needed this comprehensive info in order to track your router on their system, as it was configured on their side. My best suggestion would be to continue working with our CC Team and direct any questions directly to them as they'll be able to give you all of the answers in better detail than I might be able to, as they are working on your case. :)

No, today I was asked if I'd tried it with a lan cable instead of wifi. I carefully explained, again, that the problem wasn't on my side, but that the connection between the router and Rain was the problem.

Then... and only then... were Rain asked to check my sim/account details. And surprise! When I got home, the little light was blue and I have internet.

So while I'm very happy I have internet again, I'm still frustrated that it took this long for them to understand the problem. Because it seems like the fix was pretty simple, and it shouldn't have taken almost 3 weeks to get to it.

I'm really glad to hear that you're back online. As far as I understand, the issue was logged with Rain quite some time ago, but first line troubleshooting is always important in order to rule out any other causes. The most important thing is that you're finally connected and it's definitely the best news of the week. :)

I'm having the same red light problem now. I have it with Cell C and not Rain though... I tried calling but your lines are closed. I just got the router and SIM yesterday! So bummed!

I am sorry to hear that you were struggling with your connection. There was some sort of issue with regards to Cell C last night.

As far as I am aware this was resolved and all the clients that were affected are back online now.

Can you please confirm for me if this was the case?

HI gentleman,

This problem can also be attributed to a network issue. Im a voip provider and use the B315 extensively however ive noticed that on some sites, i will have a strong signal but the LTE light will turn red until i unplug the ethernet cable which immediately turn the LTE light back to cyan. Can anyone else confirm this?

That's a first for me. I will ask our NOC team if they have ever had feedback to that effect.

Never seen that but I do know that on Cell C if the APN is not set to Afrihosts it will drop connection, reconnect, drop connection reconnect , you get the picture....

I'm sure you have checked, but just in case, is there no other DHCP device that conflicts with your router when pugged in by any chance?

Correct, we advise all LTE-A Cell C clients to switch the afrihost APN when setting up for the first time.

Make sure the router is set to 4G only on the B315 or 4G 1800Mhz only on the B618. Cell C's signal drops to 3G at times for no apparent reason I could find.
