Remote desktop with a tv tuner?

Hello! I'm about to go and buy a tv tuner card. I would like to know if i can view the broadcast over a network cable if i use remote desktop on another machine, its a 100mbps link through a dsl router all wired.

i'm dying to ask about mnet decoding capabilities, but i'll leave that for now.

my question is can my tv tuner card work on another terminal with remote desktop connection, and has anybody else managed to get it right and if so is there lag.

If you can see it on the one sceen you'll be able to see it on the other. Maybe a bit slow if your using the windows remote desktop.
 
Depends on what software you're using on the machine with the tuner card to view the TV picture with.

If you use software that draws the TV "screen" like a movie - updating the changed bits only, then all the remote PC viewers will ignore that area and it won't work. NO SOUND !

If you use software that creates a picture of the TV "screen", and then shows that picture, and then creates the next picture, and then shows that picture, then the remote software will show the pictures as fast as it can on the remote machine. NO SOUND !

I have done this using Windows's Remote Desktop [also known as Terminal Services] and with VNC succesfully. It's horribly inefficient though.

I eventually used Microsoft's NetMeeting to provide a streaming service instead, which is waaay more efficient, and sends sound !

STREAM IT, and share the stream, don't try to use remote desktop for it.
Though ... remote desktop is fine if it's like a security cam and you just want to take a peek, or just want to peek at the cricket score.
 
Stoke has a point - check out quicktime broadcaster - not sure if they do a pc version but its free.
