Hi guys need some help with the process of getting a driveway put on a property we purchased. The house is around +- 4 meters below road level and the previous owners for some reason didn't have a driveway put in, Instead they built a garage at road level held up by pillers/columns....we plan on having it demolished...and having a driveway put in...from what I have researched the building of the driveway would require plans especially since we will have to build two walls, left and right and backfill it....I understand since the walls will be retaining soil it's a retainer wall...so do i require both an architect and engineer?
Anyone of you with any experience having put in retainer walls... any help with what's required and the actual process would be appreciated

I assume your new garage will be built far enough from the street so that your down angle of entry onto the driveway, will not be a problem?

Yes, you'll need an engineer to spec the retaining wall, and an architect to add them to the plans.

Perhaps you are not the only one on the street that has this issue, maybe the other neighbours have solved this problem. Check with them.
