Good day all. I wonder if i could be educated on the above subject.
I have a Giga-byte GN-BR01G Router/wireless AP. I have setup my computer (wired) and laptop (wireless) lan settings to default, so the router does all the hard work handing out ip numbers etc.
Now, i have wireless internet supplied by a small company in pmb, they installed a wireless ap in my roof and a network cable comes into my routers wan port. So far so good, setup my router to access them with there settings:
ip address : 192.168.0.33
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
default gateway : 192.168.0.100
preferred dns : 196.41.0.10
alternate dns : 196.41.0.11
Ps: The address of my router is 192.168.1.254
This works well and i can access the laptop from my computer and internet works on both computers.
Now my problem, i cant access the AP in the roof. Normaly if the AP was connected directly in my lan card in the computer, and i entered the above settings under tcp/ip, i would just typ 192.168.251.33 to connect, but now it cant find the address, however i can ping this address fine. my isp says i have to add 192.168.251.133 under advanced settings in tcp/ip, when connected directly into my pc, and this works fine, but i cant find a option to do this on my router, so cant connect to it via the router.
The second issue im having is when im connected directly to the ap in the roof i can see other computers on the network, as i should, but when connected via my router i can only see my lan computers.
Are these one in the same problem?
Im sure with a little more idea on how this all works i would be able to set it up, but all the forwarding and passthrough confusses me
Sorry about the spelling, my language skills are some what limited...
Many thanks in advanced.
Mark
