My fitrewall don't allow but Try them, they provide a free trial, nice....

Ok so I mailed them and asked a few questions on the TrioRed package and this was the reply:

1. The "Access Only" price they have listed is the cost for 3Gig International cap should you not wish to take a "One Price" package. That equates to R46 per gig. Not bad!!!!

2. They charge you an "connection fee" of R99 on first time setup. Effectively you'll "make this money back/break even" after purchasing 7 gigs or over 2.something months. I based this on my current cost of R60/gig through Axxess. (R99/R14 (saving) = 7)

3. The "One Price" DOES NOT include the telephone line rental as the "One Price Including Line Rental" tends to imply. It's only the DSL portion plus the cap.

4. The cap DOES NOT get rolled over from month-to-month. That is being offered at a later stage.

5. The "One Price" package can only be taken with signing a 12 month contract.

All in all I think the pricing is brilliant!! R40 saving per month for me and I'll therefore be jumping ship....Bye Bye Axxess :D

EDIT: Forgot to mention that if you're on the "One Price" package you can purchase additional cap at R59/Gig.

Telkom do not allow you to transfer youre existing ADSL line to your preferred ISP. You can only get these deals "One Price" deals from ISP's if you reapply for a ADSL line.

I'm not signing up for the "One Price". I'm rather go for the "Access Only".
 
Hola - get with the times - you can now do the carry over and transfer your existing line to any ISP that has the facility to manage it ( As of 1st June 2007 ).
By the way, I think ADSL prices are good in general if you take into account that SA has huge infrastructure costs to a relatively small user base. Comparing our pricing to USA/UK is just stupid - we don't have even 10% of the number of users here !!!!

The problem is that some 3rd world countries have cheaper access than us. Having said that, I think ADSL costs about 3 times what it should here, not the 10-100 times which is often quoted in articles.

I think a 4Mbit line with 20GB traffic for R500/month is fair taking into account the lack of population density in demand areas and the fact that submarine cables are more expensive due to our geographical location.

I've been mulling over this for a while now but decided not to take it out as we'll be moving soon and i don't want to pay the R399 activation fee twice...

SAInet in east london (I think it is), charges a "connection fee" so be careful with those prices.

They make enough money other ways.. ISP sell bw.. Cell companies sell smss, internet, mss's, voice calls.. etc..
