Samsung u700 - Mac support?

Hi everyone

I've googled around but can't seem to find an answer - are Samsung phones compatible with Apple Mac? My mate wants to get the new U700 but he has an iMac and needs to know.

The official site does not have downloads, but I was hoping someone on the forums knew. He wants to use the HSDPA that the phone provides, and connect to the internet.

iSync supports the D600 and D900 natively ... Markspace doesn't seem to cater for the U700 either
 
If you want to only use it for the HSDPA then it will connect fine via bluetooth.

Rewind> Can you point me in the direction of instructions to do that please? Is it like Linux where I would use "wvdial"?

I'm not too clued up in OSX... ;)

Erm, nope ... User interface will handle that part. The import question first is whether the U700 uses normal DUN (Dial Up Networking) or PAN (Personal Area Network) for it's bluetooth connections
 
Uh with all the mac's I've ever used and all the cellphones I've ever used you go into the bluetooth setup wizard and after it pairs the two it asks you whether you want to use the device for syncing folders as well as a packet data connection. Then I just dial a normal connection as if I was using a modem. I doubt the U700 is so special that it cannot do this when countless other cells can.

That theory holds if the phone supports DUN ... if it is PAN, it works slightly different
 
Not for the sake of arguing but for the sake of knowing: why would the U700 be different and what is PAN?
