SARS eFiling 2025/2026

My Tax season started badly, no auto-assessment.
If i log in my certificates are not populated.
I do it manually and get rejected.
Then you get cryptic messages which does not make sense.
No I'm on the phone to them.Long queue ................

Couldn’t sleep on Sunday night, at about 3AM Monday morning I logged in and completed my assessment. Completed by Tax Practitioner box was also ticked, I unchecked it. Getting a nice refund, not selected for verification (phew).
SOA shows payment date 1 August which sucks.
Generate a new SOA, that 1 August date is normally just an automated date populated by them. My actual electronic refund only showed up this morning, stating 15 July

Informed HR and apparently it happened to a few people, not sure whos at fault, but still, unnecessary stress

Paid under my bills in my banking app but there was 3 mybills for the same sars payment any idea how I delete them ? (bank states it needs to be done of sars website)

Could be a few things - your employer underpaid PAYE and you need to pay in the missing amount. Did you change jobs? Any allowances for travel, etc? Salary increases?

If none of that, then your HR just paid too little tax on your behalf during the year using wrong tax tables. Usually people get tax back because their employee took too much off your salary and you getting a refund.

Without seeing the ITR12 it's hard to say exactly why.

Also your HR misundestood you - you're not asking them file your tax, you're asking them how they calculated your tax tables when they deduct it every month.
This is where the calculation is done. The Employees tax and tax credit sis less than the subtotal above it. Should they not be the same?

You can remove the picture now.

SARS worked out the top amount of tax on your taxable income, then knocked off the primary rebate (everyone under 65 gets that). That leaves you with the subtotal amount.

Your employer only paid that amount of PAYE during the year, so the difference is what you still owe SARS.

Basically your PAYE was under-deducted. If you have an RA or pay your own medical aid and those aren't showing, claiming them could reduce or wipe out the amount owed.

Otherwise, this is just a case of your HR missing out additional tax on a bonus, or not taking enough away every month to cover the tax. They should be taking R520 a month more from you for tax - or they are not doing it because they assuming you have medical or RA that will reduce your taxable income.

I dont have medical aid or RA. So if my company took too little, surely that cant be my responsibility? Last year I did not have this issue. I dont have R6200.00 to pay SARS. My company should be decducting my UIF, PAYE etc....that is not for me to do????

You would think so but it still remains your problem. I have had issues like this before. Too many members used for medical credits and i had tax due since the Discovery certificate showed less. The problem came from changes in VIP payroll.

Company deducts PAYE so that people aren't hit with a massive single bill. Company should look at your total taxable income - so that's normal salary and also any bonuses or increases that happen. Most companies will just use that amount, and match it to the SARS tax tables and pay what they need to. That way when you submit, claim the RA/medical you get the taxable deduction and money back.

However some companies you can let them know your medical aid or RA contributions (especially if they provide or match), so they calculate your taxable income with these tax credits/deductions and then do PAYE according to that rate.

Best would be ask your HR to confirm that they are using the right PAYE table for you, and not to deduct anything for Medical or RA when looking up PAYE.

Also, if we look at the amount - R520 that you owe per month, that works out to about R2,000 per month that should be taxed. So it might be that you have some allowance (travel, mobile, etc.) that your company thinks is tax free but you are either not claiming it or SARS thinks it's not free. Check your IRP5 for source code 3701/3702 (travel).

Also if you don't have that money to pay them now, you said you saw this on the SARS calculator. So then don't submit now, save up and submit when you have saved up much closer to the payment deadline. You can also ask SARS for a payment plan.

His HR is just being a typical b***h they usually are

Managed to get in, filled everything in, I am missing one S18A that I need to get, saved and calculated but get this...

Anybody else have this issue? This is specific to a Liberty IRP5/ITA34, I moved some preservation funds from Liberty to Allan Grey last year, fairly standard stuff.
I had a similar issue. Eventually, I found an attachment in the email from Sanlam confirming that the transaction conducted last year was complete that contained an IRP5. I was able to do the calculation after uploading the information.

About five minutes later, I received an email requesting me to upload the certificate...

14/07/26 16:14 Generated form and filled it in. Took 10min (was lazy and did all the calculation while filling in)
14/07/26 16:24 Filed. Now I wait for the inevitable upload documents request. (Selected for audit or verification = Y)
14/07/26 16:25 Please submit supporting document. Suspect reason was: Had to add 1xforeign interest / 2x exempt foreign dividends that was not autofilled, was on the same tax certificate for others that were autofilled (really annoying). Some medical expenses.
Site felt responsive, even generating the form was quick.
Well this is even more annoying
SARS has 1784041733333.png
So I got the list of info submitted and lo and behold the 3 entries I added is in there, it just was not on the autogenerated form !
