Hey,

Looking for something in the 6600 GT / 6800 range.

Also if anyone has prices on new AGP cards, like 7800 GS , please can you post these :)

How fast is the 6600 GT from LEGEND? Will it be able to play major of games? I have a 3500+ AMD 64 Bit with 1 gig ram and Sata 2 drive , currently have a Nvidia 5500 card. So paying an extra grand will it be a vast improvement?

FX5500 -> 6600GT ?

Yep, things will run smoother (dont expect to run Fear in high detail) and you'll start to see a lot of new effects you would not have seen with the old card.

Iam always amazed at the amount of moeny people are spending on graphics cards, and the specs of the stuf recently. My pc at home, which I use for internet surfing, writing letters and the occasional spreadsheet at the end of the tax year, has a mighty 8MB ATI AGP card in it. The best I can play on that is Solitaire. For me to go out and spend 1000's of rands would not be justifiable. I must confess that a nice 64MB card would be nice to improve viewing digital photos on my PC!

Its for the games? not typing out spreadsheets and playing solitaire

@geezer

Just means you dont use your PC for gaming entertainment. We spend money on GFX Cards much like others would spend on a Gaming Console .

I think what it means is that it is a matter of prioritising. I cannot justify spending R2000+ on a graphics card, which would mean spending 25% of my monthly income after deductions on something that encourages wasting time.

Gaming is wasting time ? WTF ? LOL ! I suppose playing/doing/watching any form of sport isn't ? What would you consider not wasting time ? You must be REALLY old dude!

What I am trying to say is that one has to adapt to your means, and currently my means dictates that I cannot play games on my 4 yar old pc.
