Sentech Partners - Telkom buys Sentech, or not?

This is a bit dusturbing to me, I am involved in an IT company and we wanted to become a Sentech reseller / partner. I contacted Sentech with our details and received a response from them this morning as follows: "Sentech is unfortunately not entertaining any further applications for any company interested in becoming a Sentech partner at this stage."

Does this mean they have enough partners or too few towers? Sigh... What next? Sentech being bought out by Telkom????

Methinks Sentech is more focused on rolling out the service right now to even start worrying about partner agreements etc...but this is really pure speculation since we have no concrete Sentech announcements about partners at this time.

chill dewd, its their right to be choosy about who they want to resell their product. I would not expect them to just accept anybody... especially companies they have never had any dealings with.

Your topic is really in bad taste. It has nothing to do with you applying for dealership and being rejected.

I have nothing against Sentech, to the contrary – I think their product is awesome and revolutionary in the South African market. I literary hugged my Sentech modem when I received it. However, I read through their partnership program section on their website and contacted them regarding this. It was by no means an application. They virtually had my name and email address to work on. And then I received the response from them. I would love to be able to sell Sentech to all my clients. We have in the meanwhile made the decision today to go ahead and get our clients to directly deal with Sentech and we will still provide the support. Having said that, you must also understand that we, like any other business, need to make money to support the business (employees, systems etc.) But on the flip side of the coin, we decided that the market needs this technology and that we will push it to our clients, regardless of a partnership with Sentech.

Make money from service and support, like any other company that supports open-source software does.

IBM, Redhat, and countless others have started focussing on service, and support. And it pays.

Methinks Sentech has been looking for partners that have national delivery systems for now - I dont know how big your company is CB, but the partner process seems more of a closed thing for now. Given that FastComm and apparently AutoPage are the new partners, it would seem you need to physically have a meeting with these guys to get in.

Like I said though, keep trying - get a buddy in Sentech, network...

kewl, go check out nowire.co.za (aka fastcomm - one of sentechs parnters ) they have a "agent" request form. perhaps thats the easiest way to get involved in being a reseller.
