Skype Online Status

Anyone else experiencing Skype presence issues? Contacts used to be very reliable when they logged on and off (meaning it was always accurately reflected in my Skype).

However, since sometime last week, contacts just go off-line all the time, even though the actual people are still online. A few minutes later, they would re-appear. All my contacts are SA users, ADSL and GPRS mainly. We mainly use the IM features, though, sometimes VOIP.

Can this be a Skype problem (using most recent version, 2.0.103) or Telkom problem (my money is on the latter)?

Yes - i'm experiencing the same... but is is also latency in games and download speeds that's affected... my guess - it is a TELKOM problem

I have the latest skype, and do not have any problems. suppose i am using iBurst and skype so no problems.
i guess it may be the Telkom problem. there contention ratios on adsl is generally high...

thats why i disconnected adsl and got iburst

Used to have problems - not anymore

Used to have problems in an office with SAIX ADSL 512k and netgear router with +- 10 people sharing (1 power user). Now have no problems - IS ADSL 312k, netgear router and 2 people sharing.

My feeling is that port shaping has something to do with it.

Any way one can test port shaping (to see how severe it is)? Wish there were some way to 'ping' the Skype server using the same port...
