I have a quick question,

Already we notice speed difference at the end of the month, when everyone is going mad downloading,

No lets just say, it opens up and we are given as much bandwidth as we want.

How will this effect speeds of ADSL all month round??

Can Telkom cope with this do they own enough bandwidth does anyone know the answers to these questions?

In a scenario of this kind, statistically you'll have a peaking effect initially, which will flatten over time. I doubt very much if Telkrap's planning even considers scenario modelling - their performance leads me to think that they know sweet buggerall about operations planning. Give them their due - their bean-counters certainly know about financial forecasting and planning, but this tragically seems to be their over-riding management consideration, to the detriment of all else.

i havent noticed a speed decrease the scores i get on the speed test are actually higher now then they were at the beginning of the month.

I suppose it is where u live and how many ppl on ure line that affects it.

Speed tests, are in accurate they give you a measurement at a given time I am talking realistically,

I am talking using it for VOIP, aka Skype and other programs where I notice a huge difference at different times it can be different times of the month and different times of the day, which leads me to think it has to do with...usage..which lead me to the point of when and if it ever opens up will this be a problem,

Think about it this way...people with low Caps are conservative on bandwidth...imagine not everyone was conservative...

I do agree with your point that initially people will go crazy, but as the initial thing wears off... it will get back to normal,

And yes it may have alot to do with how many people on your exchange....

Funny, I've had ADSL for 2 years and I've never ever felt a slowdown at the end of the month.
