i apologise if this has been post recently, but i need to know whether others are also experiencing slow international IS speeds.

on 19 september i bought a special uncapped openweb account for the remainder of september since IS news server on local is just shocking. i was very happy at first since i got a giganews account, which allowed me to get some stuff fast. however on tuesday i noticed my speeds on my 512 dropped from 53k to around 18k.

i messaged Keoma and he was incredibly helpful and supplied me with an alternative account which sorted the problem out. this only last until 11am this morning when i noticed again a drop from 53k to around 18k.

i at first thought it was the giganews account and tried flashget which produced the same results on normal http downloads. i reset my router a few times, forcing an IP change and for about 10mins i get 53k, only to be dropped back down to 18k on both flashget and giganews.

its a very annoying situation and i have taken it up again with openweb. with the reply by Keoma that he has taken it up with IS. just to let you know that my SAIX account is fine and that it is definitely NOT my line or my router, it is IS specific.:confused::(:(

For the speed to consistently drop like that it seems deliberate. Is the ammount of time it takes before the slowdown also consistent?

i beta tested some Tabula Rasa [ncsoft sci fi mmo fps]just now on 'normal' shaped IS uncapped and speeds seemed fast enough till i saw the ping hehe and switched over to unshaped

its called threshold... as far as i know, but maybe its something else or combined issues with how threshold are implemented or tested if its time for it-

had some issue with FakeUncapped and my Dslam had to be reseted by telkom which instantly fixed the issue - mr beep phoned through :)

crap! you know i totally forgot about that whole threshold bulls**t. but it actually makes sense.....so much for that idea. but at least, on the brightside i am getting sumthing from it even tho its slow...local IS news server is not even connecting...

seems dead... getting the magical 8KBps max - *switching to saix*

I am on 512 Uncapped through IS, I am getting 192 speeds. September was a very bad month for IS and certainly did not impress a new customer like me. With that said what did impress me was the level of service and understanding of tech support people at IS.

after browsing and using SAIX account on saturday evening for a bit, i by chance switched back over to IS uncapped account and international speeds were normal again at 53k and holding all of saturday evening and sunday with minor drops to around 42k...last night it was back to a steady 53k.

While I cannot confirm this at the moment.

It seems the weather is interrupting the satellite customers (Express and Business Satellite). Customers on the fibre should be ok.

I will confirm this in the morning.

I converted our 1 Meg Uncapped IS Business Account to Fibre last week and got a call today to say that the conversion has been completed. After resetting our router, international is still as slow as all hell... This has been the ongoing struggle for weeks now. Seriously considering saix
