Anyone make sense of this vauge SMTP email from WBS Helpdesk?

I hope i am reading it wrong because the impression i get is that to combat so-called "abuse" they are going to only allow SMTP relaying through their SMTP server(s) ?

I emailed the helpdesk asking whether they are going to block SMTP in/out from iburst customers to internet addresses but have yet to receive a response.

I hope they are not because I will then be forced to cancel and it will be a pain. I run all my own email for my 3 domains, using paid-for dynamic hosting & mail-caching to my mail server at home which is on the iburst line.

If they go and block smtp to or from it i am gonna be seriously annoyed....

My understanding is that outgoing smtp(tcp 25) will not be allowed other than to smtp.wbs.co.za ... Also still waiting for clarity on this.

Personally I've taken a different route and now forward my non-wbs mail via ssh tunnel to my US server ... a *** way of doing things but I'm not willing to adjust my SPF settings !

Slim reckons they (WBS) will block people from running SMTP servers on their own machines on the iBurst connection, thereby preventing spam, but will leave people like myself who connect to servers on the internet to send/receive mail unaffected.

Knowing what a ****ty company WBS is, and how they like to dictate to their users in a dictatorship fashion how we can / cannot use what we pay for, I predict that they will block us who use SMTP servers on the net in which case Thami Mtshali can expect a sore arsehole because I will go to their premises and SHOVE a UTD up his arse!

Of course we could be forgiven for forgetting, but some people here see it fitting to reprimand us, lest we FORGET!

soz, i didn't mean it to come across as a reprimand. purely trying to help out here by getting everyone onto the same page, just incase something that is relevant is mentioned there that could be of help here...my bad if it came across wrong.

SMTP blocking in effect !

Looks like Kei will be finding a new storage space for his utd.

This is probably going to affect quite a few people !
