.. followed the instructions .. and received a message that the user was locked out or something. Trying to call using same sim to the toll free number resulted in "this is a recorded message .. you are locked out" or whatever. Called on Vodacom sim to the alternative but not toll-free number .. was told something like ".. the network does that the last 2 days..". I tried to communicate more but that was near impossible to get any answer. So is this normal for VM?

Hi Piesang,

I did not before. Just did .. the phone showed "calling " then "waiting", then eventualy "not available". I know that I *should* have reception here, since I have Vodacom 3g and also managed to connect with a Cell-C sim card to the internet from here, both with HSDPA data card and with Motorola V525 phone + bluetooth. I tried the Virgin sim in the same phone.

.. I tried a few more times .. then removed the sim from my Motorola, and inserted into a simple little Nokia 1100 .. and it is activated. That is DESPITE the fact that the poor little Nokia started up a bit weird with the Virgin Sim .. mixed up dot matrix display etc ..

At last connected with my laptop with bluetooth, via my old Motorola V525 with VM simcard. A bit slow, but maybe I will get used to use it when my 500 MB Vodacom HSDPA contract bundle runs out .. or even in between when I dont need all that speed.
