I have been bitching like many others the last few days but I do feel that I should credit Sen(not-so)tech with a bit of credit...

Since I signed up more than a month ago, I actually remained connected for a full 2 days and 16 hours. Signal strength and download speeds come second when you battle just to stay connected for more than a few hours.

Why is that...maybe the landmines I planted around Tower 12 must have helped :-) Anyone in Randburg heard some loud bangs this weekend?

You call 2 days and 16 hours an ACCOMPLISHMENT? Sure, it's wireless, etc... And I wouldn't mind the odd reset once every 24 hours. But as most people here will concur, it's hardly the rule, or a "Always on broadband connection"...

Ok, Rodent, frankly, I UNDERSTAND why you are not happy. But I dont have other options and if my only option goes better, i am happy. I to can say happiness in signal lately, granted I spend 2600 on an antenna in an area that is suppose to have coverage, poinging to a tower that is over used (12).

Like Gore said, if he could get a 28800 connection and be always on and roaming, it would be great. I am not that ambitious.

I am happier in the last few days, download 480 megs of a 530 meg game (project entropia-free) last night, so i am happy

well, the past month Ive downloaded 1.8gig of a 3 gig game.
And 600 of a 1.3 gig game.

That gives me 3.1 gig the month. Now let's say I truly started on the 1st... which I actually started quite before. That gives us
134Mb a day ...5 meg and hour... 0.09meg a minute... 0.001559 a second
and that works 1.5KB/second. Now I know I'm mising some bytes ... but that's not the point so bear with me.

This doesnt include the fact that during this time, I also had a bad server with a lowID, because my nat wasnt setup properly. And some down time over 1 weekend. Also futher more, this is eMule, just like kazaa, the most instable method of downloading... anyone heard of IRC ? Anyways, in the end. It sounds bad, but it aint. Ofcourse, I'm not on a 512k pacakge ... but it's well deserved if someone wants to download so much porn ;) hehe.

I dont know. I cant say that I'm unhappy. So far everytime I needed the internet (I'm not talking about plain downloading) I had it.
But the other day had quite a slow down though... but for some reason, things looked better yesterday, and I did more than 400mb yesterday. which brings us to 4.6k average :) Now that is better.

Blah, It sucks, and it dont.
Atleast Ive been given the honour to say that I have NEVER paid telkom anything, niks nada zilch ;)

Anyways.

I stay online regulary for 5 days plus, rebooting computer usually the cause of broken conection with Sentech, Signal strength 4 bars always, speed downloads between 15- 40KB/s . Area ontop a hill in Kloofendal, can see magalies from there and most towers for sentech.
Am on the 128kb package and it kicks the but of my Leased line 128kb at work (4 users) I am very happy with Sentech, except maybee for the little Hyperthreading issue....

My uptime now sits at :

Connected (5days 0hours 3minutes 46seconds)

Using the smoothwall box. This is with the patch antenna mounted in the loft, about 15% signal and 2 lights.

Not too shabby :)

Well, here are some figures for the kinds of transfer amounts I've managed on the 256k package. I've had the occasional reset (which Sentech might be doing on purpose, I don't know) but overall I've been online for the past week with hardly any downtime (touch wood). At 21%-23% signal, things have been pretty good. And it's all thanks to my nifty Pringles tin.

Sat 22 - 1,105 Mb
Sun 23 - 717 Mb
Mon 24 - 399 Mb
