Here is some info sent to me.

1. Iburst, while a private company, backed by WBS is in financial trouble. (Rummor)

2. Recently Iburst was in the market hunting for R 400 million in funds, to

upgrade there network, carry out the roll on and boost current help desk,

bandwidth and infrastructure despertaly needed. (Rummor)

3. Iburst, while is in a competitive market on belives that there bad publicity

is limited to this forum, namley not many users. (Truth)

So Take this as it comes, more will follow.

I have had another email, from a reseller who has sold 15 accounts, none of them have been billed for and he has not been paid comission.

This is your first post. You haven't given us any reason why we should give your rumours more credence than any of the other rumours we get on an almost daily basis.

It all just sounds rather weak and lacking in motivation and substance.

With WBS's lucrative lottery network, the huge Iburst capex, the fact that they only launched 5 minutes ago, leads me to strongly disbelieve (1) and (2). Although a few more months like this one, and I'll start believing it.

As for (3) WBS reads this forum avidly. They currently they have no better form of user feedback. If I were in their shoes, I'd be sitting up and taking notes.

It's not easy rolling out a new technology service (I think MTN and Vodacom were a few years in the red before they started making a profit) and startup costs are incredibly expensive. I can fully understand if they might need more funds - they're not as lucky as Telkom was, with taxpayer money paying for all startup costs.

But it's easy to throw stones when you don't really understand economics and what technology cost, you just want your 1mb connection and bugger the rest!

Telkom had many years to build and develop their infra-structure, but now some people want WBS to kill off the big monopoly in 6 months and offer the same kind of service that took Telkom years to build.

I can tell you now, it's simply not possible. Remember, Telkom had millions of taxpayer money to fund the company, whilst WBS funds must come from private funds - HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!

But I will support WBS & iBurst, because for the first time in SA Telecoms, we have choice - now isn't that fantastic?

MTN and Vodacom were in red cause of startup costs. Their towers worked though! Oh 3G took em like 3-5 months? It seems to work! And consider the amount of growth vodacom and mtn had compared to WBS. WBS has it easy! WBS has nothing on Vodacom or MTN. They came out, years ago, when IT was still very immature in SA.

Oh, you are happy about choice. Great, we get to choose between a rotten apple and a squashed pear!

We don't understand economics. I really dont need to understand economics, when i pay R599 a month for a service that does not deliver. Even Piet Pompies will be rightfully pissed off!

I think its a pitty that they need funds. But i can't see how massive funds will help. They have people and infrastructure in place already. FIX IT!

I must say, I feel really sorry for the guys at WBS. I am so glad not to be in their boots, but it scares me that, despite the pressure, they completly ignore us.

I have been trying every week for a long time to just get a stable connection. NOTHING!

bah you come and post that with a nick like that and with no other posts... erm the chances of people believing you are slim to NONE! sorry mate try again :\

If you listen like you spell then I think you heard very wrong... ;-)

Who cares, I don't like WBS anymore.
They are just going to loose business, VODACOM & MTN took time to make there maybe in 5yrs or so they covered what they've Spent, but WBS are only spending R400 million if alone Vodacom this month is getting over 400 base station up and running.

Press: I think WBS, are hidding away from the PRESS, since all I hear these days are lies, they are cover up stuff and not been honest with there Customers, about billing , I've not receiceved 1 Invoice, i've also been hearing people been charged double, I refuse to pay WBS, for useless Service, with No answers.
