Hi , I would like to know if MTN is going to obtain this phone and when would it be available, i am already due for an upgrade but am willing to wait for this phone

Sony Ericsson P990i

I got a new P910i (corrected ) when I renewed my MTN SP contract about 6 weeks ago. It is a great phone, with nice PDA functionality, but be aware that it is only GPRS/EDge capable, and not 3G.

Oops - wrong model. I forgot my model number, and so originally gave incorrect information on "P990i"

I think we talking about different phones, this phone is only going to be released in December, and it should be 3G

Price not announced... be very afraid gentlemen, be veeeeeery afraid hopefully you wont have to pay in on the upgrade.. I rate it will be around 6000 beans.. eh?

As far as I know it is 3g, according to SE anyway. Did you upgrade the SIM ?

The P990i isnt out yet? They said its comming out next early nxt year? Im confused now

Please folks...everyone here seems confused...the P990i- the successor of the P910i- is only expected in European stores around January/February...we might get it a couple of months later depending on a host of issues like network testing and availability.

Expect it to be on some crazy price plan, cash price would be in excess of R6000...problem with the P990i is that it's incompatible with previous versions of UIQ software written for the P800/900/910 and thus programmers have to start from scratch.

You might also want to have a look at the Q-tek JasJar which should be available any time.
