Sony Erricson Rules

K800i here - what more can I say, I'm an SE convertee :D I'll never go back to a Crapia again

Sony Ericsson has not changed the shape of their handset for the last decade and even the new K800i is the same old boring shape, and problematic joystick,I will always be a Nokia fan, current handset Nokia N80 and you can't go wrong. There are 10 x more software for Nokia than SE.
Moto phones don't even last a year, just hate those phones.

ROLMAO...SonyEricsson has only been around since 2002. Don't know about about them changing their shape but the designs of the T610==>T630==>K700==>K750==>K800 are evolutionary. It's quite simple to clean the joystick, just take a vacuum cleaner over the joystick and it should work fine as dust interrupts the contact points.

Best SE phone with a joystick has to be the K600 which never saw the light of day in South Africa.

The V600 has got to be the ugliest phone I've ever seen. The design is common, and is just a straight candybar shape. Anyone here who knows how it operates?

But the joystick is totally buggered and the problem is that I'm scared of goin for the K800i.

Don't you have a 2 year guarentee?

My K700i went totally cuckoo and VC swapped it without problem for a K750i - when they could not repair it within 3 working days.

(This is an excellent bit of customer care I had from VC)

From what I've heard, Sony Ericsson isn't all sunshine and roses. Their phones tend to freeze whenever they want to, or they'll just reset themselves.

I actually had 3 Sony Ericssons in my days, and hated them all. They froze, they were slow and unstable and they're joysticks jammed.

So which is it? You heard about SE problems or you experienced them? hmmm.

Well, I experienced them for myself with the T230, T630 and K700i. My T630's joystick broke after a few months, and my K700's camera started to blurr even after I cleaned it.

I've also HEARD from people that their new phones freeze a lot and that they reset themselves whenever they want to.

have a V600 now for 3 months - no problem at all. I quite like the form factor... even the buttons on the side is no problem for me as they only 'wake' the phone up when accidentally pressed (which happens often) - very nice software but I still prefer my slooow Symbian Nokia N70. Also have the V800 - also no problems but the direction buttons are now starting to stick (phone 18mths old) a good clean up should sort it out. Have 'broken' the V800 before by trying to flash the firmware to generic SE and not the vodafone branded - but Vodacare sorted that out for me for free by reflashing the phone back to the Vodafone ugly interface.

well i've had a couple nokias in-between, they suck big time...the only one i'm impressed with is the 6310i...

also impressed at samsung, i dropped my wifes Z540 into hot tea, dried it with hairdrier...fone is still working... :D

i got myself k800 on contract, then bought my sister the N80 (more or less the same time) Gave my dad my K800i ... and bought myself another k800i, just this time it was unbranded .... the nokia is cool, but the k800i is just so much more "polished" ... its a no **** phone ... love it so far ... N80 UI is slow and slide does feel flimsy ...

I am also a SE convert from having nokias my whole life. They are very comparable in trems og what they offer and use ablilty.
I got my W810i a couple of months ago when it when just released, and I am very very pleased. Not one issue to report, except the price of a 2gig mem stick, pro duo.
and as for Samsung, well every person who i know who had or has one(around 10), has had problems, and many of them will change brans for their next fones.
This is fact and not heresay.

Oh and i would love either the W850 or K800.

Sony Erricson Service centre or a walk in Cust Care centre I'm with voda i took it to them waited 45min and got my phone back.

Anyone in CTN know of a SE service centre? I would LOVE to get my K700i kicking again. The joystick is totally buggered and I can't even scroll down (have to scroll up from da bottom). The thing is, I'm with MTN and they only give a year gaurantee. I took it to them in month 13 and they said they have to keep it for a few days! I don't have a replacement phone so I was stuck with it ever since. I am now in month 23 of my 24 month contract.

Thanks guys!

I have a K750i, also have the Joystick problem, I have to take it to MTN but they take too long and I'll be stuck without a phone.

With regards to the Freezing I also had that Problem, I took it to MTN and they had the Firmware upgraded, Now there's no Freezing, just the Joystick

Freeze!!!!

From what I've heard, Sony Ericsson isn't all sunshine and roses. Their phones tend to freeze whenever they want to, or they'll just reset themselves. My own personal choice is Motorola or Samsung. I currently have the Motorola L7, and I love it!

My SE has never frozen or just restarted itself - must have heard wrong. My brother has a motorola V3x and I find that it is a very difficult phone to use ie. when you are trying to use bluetooth

I have the K700i and man was I impressed with the pics, especially since it's a VGA cam. But the joystick is totally buggered and the problem is that I'm scared of goin for the K800i. I became eligible for upgrade 2 months ago but am rather waitin for the N93 towards the first week in Nov. So I am stuck with this phone where I can't even scroll down anymore

For the record, this was my first SE phone and I love the simple interface and great pics but da joystick man, da joystick.

Also, if the K800i (3.2mp cam) is so good, why is MTN offering it free on the Weekender package?? I'm sure when the N93 arrives I probably have 2 pay in and I'm on a ProCall package.

Either way, I like both SE and Nokia, just had a bad experience, that's all.

Ahh you also have that problem with the damn joybutton.. I hate that thing.. The K700i was the worst SE phone with a joybutton. But at the time it was the lightest phone you could get. 8) But im also moving on, getting my I-Mate soon.. 8)

I thought SE ruled too - until today, after not even two months, my K800i is freezing when I go into my contacts and switches off on its own when trying to send an MMS!
