Sony HT-DDW1500 ???

Nice nice system that. A bit pricy tho. but i have no doubt that its gonna sound excellent!!!

U can see its quality stuff. Not cheaply done
and after all most of the Movie theatre's have SDDS and so on. (Sony Digital Dynamic Surround sound)

U can get cheaper surround-sound systems, 5.1 - 8.1 speaker systems for much cheaper. Depends on what your gonna use it for. If u want the best sound possible then that Above sony is excellent.

Although a R2000 surround-sound system sounds quite good aswell. but as i sayd that sony is good quality. and u get what u pay for.

Yeah just like i thought.

All my home and car entertainment has always been sony.. :D :D

I've got the previous gen 5.1 Sony, it's awesome, not the Bose I want but hey at 10% the price what would you expect.

Seriously though, get it, you won't be disappointed!!!

Thought it would be interesting to resurrect this old thread.
I bought these speakers in, I think in 2008 or end 2007.

I'm actually still using them today... the bottom pic is from my previous place but they'll eventually go into my new "cinema" room.

I stumbled onto this thread out of interest since I was thinking about getting a subwoofer to complement my new Edifier R1280dbs 2.0 system I got for the downstairs bar area, and then I realized, I already have a subwoofer.... I've almost never used the second woofer that came with this system since it was just "too much" for a small-ish space like a flat.

Dusted it off and hooked up the old sub to my Edifier's today and man, what a blast. Audiophile level stuff? Of course not, but man do (and did) these things deliver what I paid for at the time in spades over all these years. Even the amplifier is perfect apart from the LCD display dimming about 50% over all those years.

Even had to turn away a friend of who wanted to buy the full system from me last year. The plan was for me to get something "new", but I ended up sticking with it since there's really nothing more that I need, even today.

The only thing that's really starting to show its age is the fact that you need optical in/out most of the time and that's something that's starting to go away even on general Android TV boxes.

I mean sure, I also wat a nice Dolby Atmos system one day, but, this just still works and sounds great so why the hell get get rid of it?

Is it a case of they "don't make 'em like they used to"... I don't really know. I mean, I know you can get a decent Jamo tower speaker system these days but accounting for inflation this was R12K in today's money.... What do you get that matches this performance wise for R12K including the amplifier etc?
