Today the ZX (on MTN) got the Android 8 update packaged with the 1 November security update. MTN are normally a month behind with these monthly updates but this time they did it about 3 days earlier... congratulations MTN. Nice work Sony!

Any suggestions on the best shop in Sandton/ Fourways to buy a Sony phone not_on_contract (not everyone seems to stock Sony)?

Since Orange closed I don't think there's anyone that sells phones at a reasonable cash price and the service providers do have cash deals but at a price that makes a contract deals more attractive.
