Got Z5500, I dont have volume even at half & last night they just started making a crackling, kinda like a static sound every now and then...pretty sure they weren't hit by lightning and pretty sure its not the sound card cause if i do the test that they have(pink noise)on the speakers, it did it there too...

Anyone might know the cause?

Thanx in advance

eh? You're sure it's not the sound card because the noise is present when testing? How's that work?

Well on the z5500 on the remote you push a button called test and it plays sound though the speakers, they dont have to be plugged into the computer for the test & I tried the volume a little, even turned them right down and you could still hear the noise. I put a fan on the back for a bit and now the noise seems to be gone but the strange thing is that they were off all day so they couldnt havent gotten too hot.... can the weather really influence them that much?

I don't know if this helps but down south we are having terrible thunder and lightning and may affect PC...Not sure

Disabled does have a point. Distant lightning could cause crackles on electronic equipment like processed speakers etc.

I was thinking maybe you put your PC into stand by or let it hibernate, which could cause a white noise effect in the background. A restart usually fixes this.

Maybe what Ant said cause lately I have been using Standby a lot & last night there was a big storm here in Jo'burg so everything was unplugged till this afternoon & the crackling seems to have stopped :D Thanx guys! :)

Read a little further online, batches all over the world have been having the same problem. They are not properly shielded, Logitech have said if this occurs, one must contact them and they will replace the set with a brand new updated version. I know of someone in SA who did this, so I think you should ask their official support section, those are amazing speakers, it’s the high end of their line and I think they want to keep this user base happy :)

Thanx, will do & see what they say

Can't find any e-mail address or any other contact method besides them phoning you & you waiting for them to be free :(
