So what's your impression on the test last night? Please refrain from mentioning the score as the score is not relevant. All that is relevant is the performance of the team in the lead to the world cup.

I know that the score was a record breaker, but its besides the point.

Mods: Please delete posts that is just about the score as it would be off topic and irrelevant...

I only watched the first half and I thought it was quite a polished performance tactically. IIRC at the end of the first half the Boks had not missed a single tackle. One thing I noticed is that they were determined to run the ball from deep within their territory, and had it been better opposition it would have been a bad idea. Anyway props to the coach for some inventive play, that try by JP Pieterson was great work, considering he usually floating around the wings and not midfield.

Huge improvement in the line. The inside pass became a bit predictable but I think it was more practice than anything. Some great lines being run but some stupid passing too. There is a difference between good tactical passing and the 50/50. We can't afford some of those dodgy Butch James passes that only look good if pulled off. One cost us a try!

The forwards packed down well and the loosies where awesome. Schalk as always a huge force but hardly shadowed Juan, he was just as good. Cronje did very well too and if any players get injured you know who to call. I was not impressed with Jaque Fourie. Spilled 2 sure tries had he not knocked on. Those chances against a strong team is what will win or loose a match.

Pienaar the next fly half? I think this could def work but it must not be a Brent Russel. The Sharks must agree as well as him and he must make the move, juggling the player is not going to help him and if it does he will not walk away better for it.

All in all, very possitive, if we can get better and better as we go we will win the WC :D

Considering the strength of the opposition, I thought we played quite well. My only concern would be our performance against the bigger sides.

From last nights performance one could really agree that we are going to win the weaker sides in the World Cup, but we have to wait and see what will happen with more competitive opponents. We really can’t be playing this sort of rugby against the likes of New Zeeland. The strategies would be completely different as well as their mindsets. I thinks that the games against Scotland will give us a better understanding of what we are capable of.

Yeah, it seemed like a pointless outing. Jean de Villiers injured? Can the Springboks not play a game without getting injured? No wonder they didn't send a full strength team down under - they'd all be injured after two games against the Wallabies and the All Blacks.

First of all you can judge the springboks against a team like Namibia, if you know what to look for. The fact that they kept their structured game basically throughout a game like this shows some growth

Injuries are part of the game and namibia was out to be disruptive which usually is the type of game where there is a big chance of injuries.

Tactically they ran better lines than before and as Jake said, they are out to look at certain things and not to show everything to the opposition. You play a gameplan according to your opposition, so to say that we can't do that against a better team is pointless as it won't be the gameplan against england.

It was a good forward battle at the loose mauls.

There is def signs of what they were working on in the past 2 months

The biggest thing for me was the offloading in the tackle situation.

The All Blacks have mastered this and this often results in a try or penalty as the opposition cannot get back onsides to defend. If you watch them, they don't even look where they are passing and just pop left or right and there is a player running off the shoulder.

If we can master this aspect on its own, it will go a long way to winning not only the WC, but making SA rugby a much stronger force to be reckoned with.
