The case against Springbok Francois Steyn on an allegation of biting has been dismissed during the judicial hearing held in Paris on Tuesday.

There has been no official confirmation but an insider informed SuperRugby that Steyn's case had been thrown out when he appeared at his hearing at the offices of a law firm in the Place Vendome on Tuesday afternoon.

This is expected to shortly be confirmed in a Press statement from the IRB.

Yeah! It was only one case!:o

It it was anything else besides being dropped I would have a tough time watching the rest of the WC as it is becoming lame with all this siting BS!

That's rude, throwing his case around like that. I hope nothing inside the case was broken. :p

It was my laptop! ;) :D :p
.me joins lame school, how much is subscription?

I think you qualify for a scholarship ;)

I did it again, I'm really sorry, I have a tendency to intrude in peoples threads, much like stokey, I'm seeing someone about it, but the scholarship will help ;)

Yeah! I feel the same.

In this case the match commissioner was Terry Willis, the same Australian who suspended Schalk Burger for four matches following his dangerous tackle during South Africa's 59-7 victory over Samoa.

The story shouldn't end here, Vaka must be exposed for the lying bastard he is!

Blood I tell you!! We want blood!!

Just like in football, if you "dive" you get penalised, Vaka should be cited now for unsportsmans like conduct!

The citing ref should be stopped from further embaressment, removed from the tournament, sent home and have to pass both an eye test and rugby rules profiencey test...

Same here - very relieved!

I think they should make a case against the 'citing' ref - is he now gonna 'cite' something with every game and turn the RWC into a circus?

Maybe he knows that South Africa will win the 2007 RWC - and he's already sour grapes about it. :)

I looked for clear guidelines on the IRB site about the citing process but all I managed to find was lawyer devil speak in pdf files, so not entirely sure what the structure is.

It seems as if there is a Citing commissioner/officer (CO) for every game and a (JO) Judicial officer that handles the cases of those that have been cited by the CO.
That may be a panel, not sure.

It was 'not' Terry Willis that cited Steyn, but Jean-Claude Legendre who was the citing commisioner/officer for the match.

Terry Willis threw the case out based on a lack of evidence.
Whether or not the case should even have got this far is another matter but until we have clarity on the workings of these processes it is difficult to come to any conclusion really.

As for Terry Willis not citing Lima in while citing Burger in the SA vs Samoa game, he has no excuse.
