Hi all,
I'm expirencing an odd problem with a wireless router,
It's a Canyon CN-WF514,
I'm not using it for internet access, I just want to be able to connect my laptop wirelessly to my home network (which constists of 3 LAN'ed PC's)
Just for the record I run Linux on my PC's - but of course that has nothing to do with it
Now here's the problem:
The desktop machines plug into the LAN plugs available on the router, connection is all fine there, I can happily transfer between one desktop to the other.
What I can't do (immediately) is access the router's inbuilt http-based setup utility.
Also up till now the WLAN "act" LED remains off.
Ok, so now I boot my laptop and activate the builtin WLAN, attempt to ping my desktop, no success (yet)..
Right now I get the laptop to scan for access points and lo and behold it finds my WLAN!
Reattempt to ping the desktop and now it works! Plus the WLAN "act" LED on the router now starts blinking merrily!
Also I can now access the router's http-based setup from the laptop and the desktop??!!
If at this point I reset the router then everything goes back to square one, and I need to get the laptop to scan for WLAN's again before it comes right.
Any ideas how I can get the WLAN to remain permantly activated?
Oh yes, I've set up the WLAN as open system no encryption etc. so there shouldn't be any problems there?
I do not use DHCP as I prefer to set up my IP's statically - Any possiblity of this causing a problem?
Oh and one last setting I did do was to set access control on the WLAN to only allow access to my laptop's MAC address.. - consequences??
Thanks for taking the time to read through my rather long problem!
Oh and Happy new year!!
