I know that telkom has a lot of money which in this country is a problem if you want to sue, especially because the lawyers in this country dont do anything for free either regardless if they think it is right or wrong.

In the states, we all know that a company like telkom would be constantly sued because they are providing a service but then telling the 'customers' how they should and should not use it. Also they would be sued because of their slogan.

I think the worst is that when you hear rumours like the SNO is only planning to give us Telkom less 10 % it is enough to make you want to kill. As far as 3g is concerned, it has failed everywhere in Europe, what makes them think it will survive here, because of mobility ?

jeinnor30, I know that company like telkom will not survive elsewhere, but in SA there is nothing better. After my recent experience with WBS (iBurst) and telkom, I have to say that telkom is far better than WBS. Sure I had to wait whole month to get ADSL, but I got it as promissed, and it works without a hitch. Well it is overpriced and slow by international standards, but is there anything better available here?

So, look at a company like WBS. They had a real chance to compete with Telkom. They could have offered excellent service at reasonable price and won hundreds of thousands customers overnight. What they did instead? They provide you with overpriced pathetic useless crap, which they call broadband internet connection ... so what do you do then? Go back to dial-up?

The only solution to the SA internet problems is to get some real competition going, company with money and ambition to make something properly, not like WBS. You cannot get monkey out of the forest and tell it to make ISP, doesn't work that way, you need somebody with some intelligence.
