Telkom ADSL installation times?

What is the law on the installation time of telkom for ADSL???

I was patient for 9 months...

I did my own self install in Richards Bay, up and working in 3 days from application
I assisted my parents (in Durban) with their DoBroadband 1GIG, and was very surprised when it was up and running in 2 days.

In both cases I only made one call to the local Telkom Direct shop for a progress report.

I find some other peoples installation time unreal.....i have just had joy, Perhaps they are doing somthing wrong, i dunno!

Took Telkom 3/4 days to activate ADSL .
My friend had to wait for only 2/3 days.
We both did the self install.

I applied for DoBroadband 2. Yesterday I check my usage stats and notice in the email my threshold is 1gig.

After phoning several help desk numbers I'm told the person that captured my application must have made a mistake and applied for Do1.

Knew something had to be a screw up after my speedy install it's Telkom after all.

You say be patient? I have just been told it will take 2-3 weeks for a self install! Even thou I already have a phone line.

OK I got the phone line already, I applied on the 29th of august for my adsl line (Self Install) and still waiting, today its exactly one Month later and still nothing has happened. I am told from their call centre that it will be ready by the 8th of October. What do I have legally to stand on this? What are the 30 day's there for? What happens if Telkom is late as in this case??

Uli, if Telkom takes longer than 30 days, I think you can complain to ICASA, you may have to complain to Telkom first. I'm not sure though as my self install took about 2 weeks so I didn't have to complain.
