Hi there

Can anyone give me the contact information in order to find out what the progress is on my wimax application?

I originally ordered a phone line (wanting to upgrade it to ADSL after the installation), but apparently I can't even get a phone line until (at absolute earliest) February next year! Anyway, I then was able to apply for Wimax (early last week), but now I can't get through to anybody at Telkom who can actually give me a progress update.
@ 10219 - They don't know anything if it's not a new phone installation. Gave me the number 0800 456 786.
0800 456 786 - number appears defunct. Not engaged, not "just rings", no answering machine; just long beeping indicating that this number does not work anymore.
Then I get given the number 0800 375 375. Now the wonderful, most helpful people at this call centre simply answer the phone and immediately kill the call. Don't you just love them?

To be fair, I did once manage to get through to 0800 375 375 last week some time, and spoke to a really helpful (no sarcasm this time) gentleman by the name of Igsaan. Through him, I was able to find out that the installation applications for Wimax are not trackable on any system, as the new service requests are e-mailed through to 'back-office'. Unfortunately, this gentleman is on leave this week, so I'm left to the mercy of our favourite broadband provider, and their famous commitment to top quality service.

Frankly, I'm getting rather String.toUpper(Translator.toAfrikaans("rearend full")) of these incompetent personnel. I would most sincerely have liked to wait until Neotel has their consumer services up and running, but I unfortunately require broadband from home for work purposes asap.

Any help is much appreciated

Try 10217 the Business side of Telkom they can help you with WiMax.

Please Norm!

Can you pm me the name as well. I have the same problem as Na-iem.... Just can't seem to get any progress on my application. Tried 10217 and after a long struggle it appeared that there was no application for me, then they found something but could not give me a reference no. Said they would phone me back within a day or two with the no. That was two weeks ago and still NADA. Am quite frankly sick of being given the run around by everyone.
Pse help.

I have a Wimax order number after 2 weeks of calls but now I am stuck again waiting. Another week past and no news. Hows about those contact details?

Thanks

tried Norm's contact. Apparently they can't help anymore, as their access to the applicable system has been revoked. I got directed to 10217. Phoning now; will let you know if I have any joy from them this time.

Now I'm being told that I can't get Wimax if I don't have a telephone line..?? Is this true? I thought Wimax was wireless... you know, no lines required..?

The problem I found with my WIMAX application was that each person didn't know what the other was talking about!!! It is very frustrating to deal with HELLKOM call center agents! Although once you get through all the red tape called Telkom the WIMAX service is brilliant!!;)

Well, after consulting the supervisor, they eventually filled out an application for me, and sent it off to the "correct department". Still no order number. I'm supposed to get a call within 48 hrs (that's by 3pm tomorrow). I'm not holding my breath.

What happened? I want Broadband but don't want a Telkom line as well.

Well, they didn't get back to me. (Anyone surprised?) I have since moved, and now want the installation moved as well (I probably can't get WIMAX anymore, though). Only problem is that now Telscum can't find the complex I'm moving to on their system! Don't you just love how they are always on top their game? Anyway, I now have to befriend my neighbours very quickly (and intimately enough ;) ) so I can get their phone number and give it to Telscum so they can find the complex on their system. Otherwise they can't help me.
