Does anyone have experience with the new Telkom D-Link router you get with Fibre (DSL-G2562DG/TK) - specifically, setting up a VPN server on the router so you can access it remotely and gain access to your home network.

There is a VPN menu on the Router Config Screen, but the options are IPSec, L2TP and VPN Lite. The fields required don't make sense to me. It seems the router is capable of connecting to these VPN types, but is not intended to use as a VPN Host or Server.

Must I buy a new router/gateway and use OpenVPN or can this D-Link be configured as a VPN Host?

Is the router to be a server, or a client? (asking because you mention host, and also server)

The router is to be the "server". The client will be my phone or a PC somewhere outside of home.

It looks like this router is not meant to be a server. I guess I will have to buy an ASUS with OpenVPN.
