Telkom Simple Bargain for R499

If u read the T&C you'll see :

•Customer must sign a compulsory debit order and 24 month sales agreement to pay off the device
•Offer is subject to credit vetting. Customer may be required to pay a deposit.

Wonder what this deposit is
I don't get it. I wasn't asked to sign a single thing :wtf: I think that https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/campaign/simple-3/terms-and-conditions.do applies to all the offers within the "Simple" promotion and as such some of the points might not apply. I think the 24 month and debit order points apply to the laptop, tablet and easi-net deals which are explicitly stated as 24 month contracts

This sounds tempting even with a contract hmmmm
How would they process this if you already a client with them? Do u first need to cancel all your current products? and then start over?

I am slightly scared of the 1st months bill if they bill me for my current stuff and a simple plan
Not too sure if they'll allow you in:
Telkom Simple is available to all new broadband customers.

I definitely did not sign any debit orders, I know better. Once they take your money, it is very difficult to get it back.

Perhaps it was a one off mistake with our accounts. But check out your bill and keep us posted. Interested to know.

Initially, the deal did sound to good to be true though.

Then I did my only calculations - Afrihost uncapped bundle R298 + R185 Telkom line. Total of R485 for uncapped internet albeit, a 1meg line.

That doesn't include the POTS line rental though...

I am on the telkom simple 1 package. no contract, can upgrade or downgrade at any stage, just 30 notice period.
The techie explained it all when he installed my line. he also gave me the netgear n300 router branded as telkom.

I got this last weekend, although I went for the uncapped option, which is only R145 more than this 10MB Capped offer. No contract. The free modem and 3G dongle only apply to new ADSL customers, ie. if you've never had an ADSL line, you qualify. I was just changing ISP's and upgrading my line, so I didn't qualify. The whole process took 20 minutes over the phone. 1MB to 2MB in 20 mins. That has to be a record for Telkom. Very happy with it so far.

True, considered it last month and realised that it was better not to take a Telkom bundle

Yes, in the above post he did consider the POTS line rental.

Personally I got burnt by Telkom for taking a 24mth contract when I upgraded my line from 384 to 512 (just before the first speed upgrades) and I had to pay in R500 for the device even though the I was on month 18 of 24.
