Im thinking of getting a Cricut Maker 3 to start something on the side (I have no illusions that it will take some time to get some sort of ROI).

Who here has a Cricut? Where is the best place to buy the machine? (Ill take a look at Facebook Market place and Carbonite later). Where do you buy your supplies and materials?

I was pointed to a YouTube channel run by a lady from SA that looks quite good. https://www.youtube.com/@KellyRossouw

Takealot seems to have quite a bit of the supplies, wife has the explorer.

If you can try get the maker 3 as it has a higher cutting pressure.

I compared the maker 3/cameo 4/scan n cut dx1200 and to me it seems the cricut is easier to use.

Have a look on Facebook marketplace for used as there are a lot of them for sale - usually with a cup and t shirt press as well.

They're great little toys... and you can spend ages and get some very damned impressive results from them...

Also, you aren't limited to only buying their supplies, you can get vinyl and things like that from other shops at much cheaper rates.

My wife bought a Maker 3 bundle from Doodles Cafe. It ended up being a pretty good deal as she could pick a bundle that already included most of the accessories she would've bought separately, saving a bit in the process. For supplies she mostly seem to be grabbing them from Takealot when they're on sale.

It is a very impressive machine and I've been meaning to build a cart for it, based on this one:

Maybe one day!

What do you need it for?
sorry for the late reply. As it stands Im trying to get a bit of a side project running that my mother in law can take over. Basically cutting vinyl for stickers and carton for cards. There are other uses as well, but for now we start with the basics.
