Its been raining all this evening here in linksfield tower area, signal is from 1% and two to one to no lights but still working.

How is it elsewhere?

Suprisingly good.

International Speeds the usual 0.5KB/s
National Speeds the usual 14KB/s

I have no special antennas... just a modem and the farking farked tower and the BEAST
that controls this: SENTECH aka SLOWTECH or SCUMTECH or SUCKTECH.

I wrote a nasty email to Sentech Support. I feel they deserve it. Anyone out there willing to give me emails of Sentech management. I would like to contact someone who erhm... might
have a brain, more power, or preferably a soul. Wait they all brainless, souless pigfarkers.

Just an email would be dandy. I promise to keep my sources secret...

Sounds like me a few months ago. Then I got wise and at the same time a dish antenna
 
My signal is fine. As far as I know.

The new tower was strangely turned off today, and the old tower has lost so much signal that I am literally on 1% with no lights. Let's hope the new tower comes on soon :-(
 
I have a decent signal, but international b/width has dropped to the point of being useless tonight. Maybe their upstream connection is via two cans and a a piece of string that doesn't work so well when it's wet?
 
international is a DOG! it's SO slow! :( I also wrote a snotty email to support last night as well... but it's like water off a Orc's back...

The guy from nowire came out to test my signal (Blairgowrie) yesterday afternoon. He arrived just as the thunderstorm got into full swing. I was surprised to get three lights on the modem, and the connection, although very spikey, seemed alright, slightly faster than what I'm used to on the whole.

My usual signal of 40% and SNL of 16-18 is now 14% and SNL of 6-8. This is using a poynting 22dB grid. I don't do speed tests anymore as its too depressing. Browsing seems fine.

My connection has been fine even with the bad weather - and not only that, but I've been downloading Fedora ISO's at my maximum (32KB) speed last night. Will see how it goes - the next ISO is coming down tonight, so I'll have a look when I am back at the office.

My turn at the speed token - hopefully it lasts! *knock on wood*

koffiejunkie - I'm also in Blairgowrie up near the Timber City / 8 till late. Get a 6 to 20% signal whatever the weather is doing just with the modem - no dishes or anything else.

I took my laptop + modem to my brother down on Stephens road near the blairgowrie plaza - got an outstanding 25% solid signal there.

Where abouts are you in blairgowrie that your signal is so dodgy ?

In both cases, the location is more or less on the top of a rise, rather than in a valley. I must do a personal "signal drive" around my area just out of interest sake [:D]
 
bb_matt, why do you say "dodgy?" I got three lights, signal was between 20% and 60% (with the thunderstorm going). It did disconnect twice or so though, but I have to add that my cellphone and fm radio reception tends to rise and fall quite a bit too. The deeper I go into the flat, the worst it gets - in my bedroom I lose cellphone reception (both Vodacom and CellC) completely at times, but if I go outside, it's good and stable.

I'm on the corner of Gordon and Caithness. I have no idea where Timber City is - just moved into the area, don't know it well.

If you want to meet sometime and compare notes/reception/swap software/drink coffee, we can arrange :-)

bb_matt- I have to question your use of "outstanding" with reference to a 25% signal; my usual sig at home down the road, on the other side of Jan Smuts in Bordeaux (by the sports fields), is &gt; 30%; both to Hyde Park and Randburg Metro, depending on which tower the dratted modem decides to lock onto. But then I get huge signal from both so I don't really have to care! Still, koffiejunkie getting a whole three lights (I know of another site where 2 lights = 7%!) strikes me as being more than a little bit lacking.

But hey- I'M alright Jack, so what the hell!
