The Wii

thats what i also thought...but telephonically they make it sound like a booking was necessary...i was there on Sunday and no one had placed any booking yet for the wii...lets hope though that they get more than just 10 or 20 consoles...any news on special opening specials / bundles / give aways?

CNA HQ and Canalwalk refused to give me an answer as to what the free gift is. Rumours are a cap, or cuddly toy, or even a Wiimote wrist stap, or maybe a game!

For the R300 deposit they give you a CNA gift card (R300). So if you don't buy your Wii there you can still spend the R300 on something else, its not like they take R300 from you if you don't buy the Wii from them.

Spent a bit of Thursday afternoon playing Metroid at a mates house, and although it was pretty neat, I have to say the graphics were slightly off-putting (we were playing on a massive Bravia, so SD looked...unpleasant).

That said, I really did like the control scheme, but I think I'll hold out on the Wii until there are a few more non-Nintendo games (as I prefer games like Oblivion, Bioshock).

I'd say if you are going to buy a Wii then MP3 is a must though, and Zelda was pretty sweet too (didn't have much time to get into it but the controls worked pretty well). I've never had so much fun opening doors as I did in Metroid - takes a bit of getting used to though.

So, to the guys who have one for a couple of days now, do you still enjoy it as much? Did the controller turn out to be just a gimmick?

I'm in two minds about buying one.
On the one hand I had loads of fun with a friends but on the other hand I'm more into games like Bioshock and I'm a little bit worried that the remote thing'll get old after a while and then I stuck with low end graphics on a Mario only machine with Core putting game imports on the backburner!

You know what I mean?

I am still very happy with my purchase ... and my kid loves it too (especially golf and boxing :)) ... I will most probably getting into Legend of Zelda over the weekend.

All in all a very good buy for our household

I love my wii. It's great finally being able to play games with my GF. It's actually bringing us closer together. Usually if I play games on my pc she bothers me every 10mins looking for attention. This way I kill two birds with one stone.

Should be getting trauma centre: second opinion soon and Resident Evil 4 and everyone seems to like SSX: Blur.

Still going strong here, at least its something wife is keen to partake in and has fun whilst excercising as well. Those boxing matches are simply too energetic! :p

I am not sure about RE:4 since I have the PS2 & GC versions of it already. Getting another one is a tad overkill for me!

Same here :D

Well most people say the wii version is the best of the lot.

The new Wii RE Umbrella Chronicals (I think) looks awesome! But I don't want to buy a console for one game

Then buy it for Soul Calibre: legends, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. brawl, Metroid prime3, No more heroes, Medal of honour:heroes2 and trauma centre:new blood.
