They forgot about Copeland which was their Vista like followup to Mac OS 9 which never shipped ... instead they bought NeXT and NeXT OS morphed into OS X.

So why did they feature Taligent which was just a pie in the sky go nowhere research project ???.

The failure of Copeland was even more dire for Apple than Taligent ... heck at the time they even looked at Windows NT with Apple enhancements as an option :D.
