Thanks to Nic Roet's distance calculator, I have determined that my girlfriend's place is 2.1km from the Fourways Golfpark tower and 2.8km from the Fourways Exchange tower. However, wherever I go on the property, my modem only picks up Council Mineral Tech (tower 12), which is 8km away! It picks it up well (up to 4 lights, 17%) but of course I cannot connect to it coz it's too far away.
My question is: is there a way to force the modem to ignore the signal from tower 12, which it seems to choose as the strongest signal every time, so I might be able to pick up one of the other signals that could be usable? Is a directional antenna pointed away from tower 12 the best option?
Thanks
