TV Recommendations OLED/QLED...?

Considering the life span of a TV I think you made the right decision 👌
That's a good point, a TV can easily last 10yrs+.
What is the current LG OLED reliability like, didn't some early versions have some issues?

My CX55 is going 5 years now.
Zero dead pixels, zero signs of burn-in.
Moderate mix usage (mostly series/movies with no logos/watermarks, then maybe 5 hours a week of supersport logo, and let’s say 6 hours a week gaming)

I’m sure tech/protection has improved a lot since my model too

Samsung Micro RGB vs. OLED: The Choice Isn’t Easy - CalebRated

When choosing a premium TV, you no longer have to choose between competing display technologies. In this video, we compare Samsung's top-tier 2026 offerings: the S95H OLED and the R95H Micro RGB.

Whether you prize reference-level contrast, anti-glare performance, and flush-mount artwork design, or you are looking for massive scale, vibrant color volume, and room-dominating brightness: we break down how both technologies excel so you can decide which television best fits your home setup.

Back in this boat again my Q80R is showing signs of interlacing issues on the bottom half of the screen only, I researched and it seems it could be a processor issue or the screen itself I dont think its the screen because its seldom happens mostly for youtube videos , Netflix, Amazon and Disney seems to have no issues. The TV is 7 years old and served it purposed, would prefer to change it next year but if it gives up I would rather do it now. 90% of my viewing is Youtube.

My Tv history has been LA55A550- CCFL lighting - Moved to the KS8000 first gen Qled then to Q80R - Love this TV Ks8000 and Q80R been 65 thinking of moving up in size as well.

The choice now is so much more difficult than back in the days and the prices of TVs are insane.

Room is brightly light with natural nights although I have black out curtains for if I want to watch a movie in the day.

Sound is handled by my Denon receiver with my 9.2 set up with Dolby Atmos so TV audio doesnt matter but must have eArc.

I am so used to the Samsung 8 series, if I drop to a 7 I think I may miss the picture brightness and colour volume the 8s produced.

THinking of a Mini RGB - Its another 7 year investment so will bite the bullet on the price but when i got the KS8000 first gen Qled I had multiple issues all covered under warranty but its was too much admin, I dont want to do through that again. Do you think Mini RGB is at a level worth investing now?

Samsung vs Sony vs LG - I always had Samsung and in saying that I know that there are other products I have cut of my search that I should be looking at - the only issues with LG I have is the OS I am not a fan of that mouse pointer remote

Buying a Tv in 2026 is a very tough decision - My budget would be between to 40k to 50K max , would like to get the largest at the price point with atleast another 7 years of usage

What would you recomend?

Why not just buy a TV box and plug that in? Sony is rare in South Africa, has been for many years. Also look at TCL, Toshiba and Hisense, you've been out of the market awhile and those have moved up.

Thats a great idea I didnt think of that - I have an andriod box in my bedroom set up I should test with that

I've got a LG OLED from Jan 2018 which is still going. Has a bit of burn-in from the Youtube logo in the top right corner but otherwise still a great set.
