Just thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone else has seen or heard of a similar problem.
Trying to install the Vodafone Mobile Connect software and it goes through the installation fine, but then gets to the last screen:-
----------------------------
InstallShield Has Completed
The wizard was interrupted before Vodafone Mobile Connect software could be completely installed.
----------------------------
Then I'd click Finish and that was it.
Specs of the machine:-
Acer TravelMate 370
Centrino 1.4GHz
512MB RAM
40GB HDD
WinXP SP1
I have tried nearly everything I searched for on Google, and what I could think of.
1. Added both a new user I created for myself and another user account to the administrator's group (we were both administrators to start off with).
2. Searched for any "vodafone" entries on the C: drive and the registry and deleted them.
3. Disable all background applications and startup programs, including anti-virus, using msconfig.
4. Tried the Windows Installer Cleanup.
5. Checked the Default DCOM Security settings and followed instructions laid out on the Microsoft Support site.
6. Restored default permissions to the registry using two different methods. [1. Microsoft way and 2. SubInACL way]
7. Installed the latest version of Windows Installer 3.1.
8. Installed .NET 1.1 and then .NET 2.0.
9. Tried to install Windows Service Pack 2, but that didn't want to install, and gave some error message "Internal Error Occurred".
After trying each of these I rebooted and tried to install the Vodafone Mobile Connect software from scratch.
I have tried with version 6 and version 7, both give the same error as well.
In the end, I have manually installed the drivers for the datacard, and just setup a manual dialup connection to Vodacom, and that works fine. But still no dashboard?
Can anyone suggest anything else?
The fact that Service Pack 2 does not want to install, tell me something is up with this system, and I would possibly suggest a reformat of the machine and start from scratch solution.
Anyway, just throwing this out there for you techies.
