Does Telkom still have their uncapped local offer? If so hoow do i seperate international bandwidth from local using mega105wr

AFAIK, the 1 GB TI accounts have 10 GB (on 2GB TI accounts you get 20GB on 3GB TI accounts you get 30 GB) free local bandwidth after your cap, when this is depleted you pay R22.50 per GB thereafter for local traffic used. So uncapped yes, fixed price not necessarily. I am not on TI, so I do not know exactly but apparently during a "trial" period, all local usage after your cap is free.

Just in case you are wondering, any usage will contribute to your initial cap. IE If you start the month (with zero usage) and download a 700 MB demo off the SAIX local FTP, then this will count towards your initial 3 GB cap. Thus the 3 GB cap is what they like to call "blended" bandwidth, IE all traffic (local and international) counts towards it.

As said above, you will need RouteSentry.

Keep in mind you need two seperate accounts. So if you only have one TI account, then RouteSentry will not work for you

You can't. Route sentry only works if you have access to an international account and a separate local account. Telkoms 'blended' cap is exactly what it says, blended. Only when your international or 'blended' cap is reached your promotional local usage kicks in.

I'm no expert but...

Basically there are a few internet" backbones in this country, SAIX, IS, Verizon etc.

Depending on which ISP you use will depend on which backbone is used. Some ISP's give you the option of using either SAIX backbone or IS backbone.

The basic difference between these 2 backbones is that SAIX backbone connects internationally via the SAT3 Cable and IS connects using Satellites. So normally SAIX is faster when accessing international sites.

Telkom uses their backbone which is SAIX. So SAIX = Telkom. I think MWEB also uses SAIX.

WebAfrica I think gives you a choice between the 2 but I think WebAfrica mostly uses the IS backbone.

If you want to use the local news servers, you need a SAIX account (ISP such as TelkomSA) to access the telkom news server and you need an IS account (Openweb, WebAfrica) to use the IS news server.

There is a SAIX news server as well as an IS one. The SAIX one usually works better, actually.

what im trying to say will it use the blended and if so how do i login with local only cap because i only have one account

You need to finish the blended first then only local will take effect. You cant split them.
