Unshaped!!?? Wtf!!??

I'm rather new to the dsl world and the diffenitions just kill me, i tried asking telkom but as always that doesnt help at all.
Anyway if you can help, wat does unshaped + shaped connection mean???
I gather its to do with international connections but thats all

Shaped: Telkom decide what speed you can download, even if you have 512kbps ADSL and they choose for you what they think is important.

Un-Shaped: You can download/upload anthing without Telkom choosing for you, or setting your speeds. Also much better latency than Shaped. This option is also almost twice the price

Latency means the time the packet of data enter from a port to a frame.
This is measured in ms or often referred to as a ping.
like 50ms, 200ms
Un-shaped accounts dont have to worry about this. Since you get ultra fast speeds without being monitored.
Anything below 100ms is a good connection 50ms excellent and 200ms stable.
anything above that locally is very poor.
