Upload Speed vs Download Speed

Why is it that there is soo much interest in faster download speeds and buggerall about upload speeds?
What about companies and business running servers that need quick upload speeds?

Why cant we have like a 1mb line with 1mb down and 1mb up? Id even be prepared to pay a fair bit more for the line because having to go through the agony of installing another phone line and ordering another dsl line is just not cool.

We need to change our tune with Telkom and demand better upload speeds or a special dsl line package that accomodates serious uploaders!

Upload, on a measly 3GB cap? I highly doubt it, I'm any filesharing network's worst nightmare, I have never uploaded When I was on 56k before ADSL was available I would leech like no other

Companies and Business's dont use 3gb cap... More like 30gb-100gb or uncapped. We still need better upload speeds.

I agree with you, and didn't mean to nullify your post Faster upload speed means faster download speed at the end of the day, it's logical and I'm not just talking p2p

I think there is some sort of limitation to the upload speed of adsl. According to Wikipedia the upload speed of adsl is limited 1mbps. So that would obviously be the max and exactly what you're looking for. The max download speed is 8mbps for adsl.

Telkom doesn't offer 8mbps download speed which is the max, so I highly doubt that they are capable of offering the maximum upload speed. Remember that this is Telkom and with their old equipment, you can never be sure where they max out

Several European countries have 10mbps up and 10mbps down so it is possible but not on this shoddy infrastructure...
