Visual basic express edition

Wow hectic thread.

I will just add that anonymous types and delegates have their place and should not be used to judge an entire language.

They were introduced for a reason (LINQ and Lambda). If you use them as intended they add enormous value, of course everything can be abused (C++ Templates anyone?).

Yikes! :D

Okay, apologies for my comment above - I clearly missed the second question in the thread.

Gnome and Shogun - well, nobody can fault the two of you for being proponents of your respective chosen languages... :) May I chip in with my 2c?

My son of 13 years started out with C# and a few tutorials a few weeks back - a few applications later he understood the concepts of programming well enough that he was able to move onto a microchip program (using MPLab) and make changes to the program flow. I know Java well enough to program with it, but I have to admit the ease that it took to get him up and running with C# was phenomenal. I doubt I could have done the same with Java, to be honest.

What? This is really child abuse.:)
Let the child be a child man.

:D He's preparing for a science project for next year's school fair. Sounds fair to me.
I'm sure he hated computers before, but you forced it down his throat. He probably wants to have a simple job, like being a gynecologist.

Haha, as any father would wish of his son, hey? But no, he wants to be a web designer... :erm:
