Hi

I've got a noob question about a VM connection: Sometimes when I do a speedtest at gamco I get 14KB/s, maybe like twice in a row. Then 15 sec later I get 9 KB/s consistently, which is what I consider the "normal" d/l speed for my circumstances.

Now I'm not bitching. I'm just curious, what causes that difference. AFAIK my signal is strong enough not to result in fluctuations (-75dBm). Does the 14KB occur when by some coincidence I am the only one on the tower's Edge or is it some kind of dynamic shaping/throttling?

Also netmeter reports some serious peak download/upload rates (like 50 and 27KB/s respectively). How true is that?

Thanks

I've raised this with VM, but no worthwhile response has been received.

They get the data service through Cell-C, but there is no direct link between Cell-C technical and VM data support.

Then to compound the issue, there is NO direct customer link to VM data supp.

They can arrange for a Cell-C techie to come and check (this can take some weeks to arrange), but in my experience nothing changes. Feel free to try it.
