I recently bought a N91 and it developed some problems so I took it in to the Vodacare shop in Eastgate.

Problems were that sometimes ppl couldn't hear me, especially if the numpad was slip open and sometimes it made a static sound.

I got a call from the shop to go pick it up yeterday and today I went to pick it up.

I checked the phone just outside the shop and I still had exactly the same problems. They refused to let me jump the qeue even though I just stood in it for 30 mins and I had to wait another 40 mins just to book my phone in again.

I had to take time off work to go and collect my phone and this cost me time and money and thanx to Vodacare's incompetence I wasted both.

This being entirely their fault for not testing the phone before telling me to come and collect it I requested that the phone be delivered back to me.This being an inconveniece to them they refused.

The loaner they gave me was broken too.

Im phoning customer care now, will post result.I (I really hope its free from a vodacom number)

same thing happened to me with vodacare in canal walk (cape town)

phone came back with same problems i listed to them and a few more added!

they also said they'd upgrade the software, when i got the phone back i checked the firmware version only to find it was the same version, with some new meercat pics added to the gallery, only now the phone is slow as hell and i have no internet access (this was NOT a problem prior to taking the phone in)

i also do not have the time to take it back in again.. so this stuffs me up big time..

this is the first time i've experienced problems with vodacom services but when they screw up, they do it big!

Sorry to hear about your trouble, but let me assure you, these cell companies are all the same. I am with MTN and my N80 went faulty after about 10 days of usage. That was two months ago! It is still will the "High Volume Repair Centre", and to get anyone to return messages from there is nigh impossible. Yes Mongesi and Aslam, I am talking about you!

So like most huge South African companies, they dont give a toss about customers, and don't even know how to spell service. No ways they would get away with it in Europe.

Well I gotta give Vodacare Hatfield a thumbs up even though I took it in for firmware upgrade only...the lady was nice and was from the same town as me and even offered to drop the phone off at my house after work if I didn't want to come back in to collect it. 5 stars

yeah on the occasions when ive had to use vodacare the service wasnt so bad. how ever i heard that 3G phones can only be repaired in jhb?

Heh, Creed I feel your pain. Just over a year ago my 6600 crashed badly, after which there was some green line on the screen and the phone itself did not last longer than 20mins before freezing up completely, and that's if you used it only for calls, anything else crashed it immediately.

From January 2006 I took the phone in to Vodacare in Vodaworld. (Long waiting times aside) I got the phone back, as I was walking out I turned it on, same problems, turned around, went back in, tried to describe my problems more thoroughly.

I had to stay in Potch for the next couple of weeks, so I had to drive from there to collect my phone - after the 3rd or 4th time of getting the phone back with the same problems, and even after telling them and putting it in my fault description that it may be a hardware fault, I kept getting a broken phone, so I snapped and demanded to see a manager of some sort.

ONLY THEN did they give me a loan phone, and about a week later I was given a brand new Nokia 6670 as a replacement. Which unfortunately broke the next day, and after that I waited another month for a replacement phone on that. Vodacom and Vodacare of course does not care about the well over R1000 petrol I had to use for their lack of quality control.

If you ever have the unfortunate luck that your complaint, issue, problem be put through to the head complaints department (Vodacare in Cape Town), don't speak with someone called Ilse, the services these people give regardless of the phone is the worst I've experienced ever! I can still understand if a smaller companies mishaps, but the thing is, because Vodacom is so large and no one would be able to make any type of civil claim stand up in court they don't give a f*@& about problems that arise from their gross incompetence.

Been there, done that. The Vodacare in Durban Central completely ruined my Sony Ericsson P990, and even though they acknowledged it was their fault they wouldn't do anything about it. I will never buy so much as airtime from Vodacom again let alone sign up for a contract with them.
It's all smiles and how can we help you when you sign up, but god forbid something should go wrong, then you're on your own.
