What I remember is my Riva TNT 2 swiped the floor with Voodoo.

Well it was almost 3 years later

I think back then it was tie Voodoo 3 against the Riva TNT 2. Was back in 1999. Was quite the rivalry.

Yeah i had the voodoo 3 3000, friend had the tnt2, besides the 32 bit mode they were pretty comparable.
Big difference I didn't need to change drivers as he did to get the performance gains. Plus at 32 bit mode games ran slowly.
He also had a P3 450mhz I had a K6-3 450, that is where his was better

LANs taught me a whole whack of things which even benefited later work.
Especially since IBM at the time was still using token ring.

Was a step up from parallel and serial cables

Worse was trying to figure out which t-piece and/or terminator wasn't working and then sift through a box of cables looking for ones that were still working. Took longer to get the network to work than actually playing anything.

Good times though. Warcraft 2, Diablo 1, Starcraft, Duke Nukem 3D and C&C Red Alert.
