I was told VPN blocks your ISP port settings and then increases your download speed, is this true?.
All P2P software tells you fast downloads, but at 1 - 4 kbps and that is what I get.. maybe...
Is there some one out there who knows how to get out of the extremely slow P2P downloding blues...

in short, yes!

think of a vpn as a tunnel. it sends all data through the tunnel over a single ip connection. on the other side, it is split up into mutliple ip connecitons again:

Please excuse the crappy ascii-art:

Code:
--\ VPN /--
--|--------------|--
--/ \--
The easiest way to speed up P2P traffic in Shareaza is to use an unshaped port for downloads.
"Tools | Shareaza Settings | Internet | Connection" and change Port to 21 or 80.

How do you connect to the internet. Dial from windows or dial from router?

if you connect through a router (that dials up to the net), you have to set up port forwarding!! this will make the most significant impovement.
