WD 2TB external hard drive stopped working

Well upon reading this thread it seems pointless to ask about a tool to open my WD drive.
It's not under warranty anymore

Hopefully you're referring to a software tool. :) A hard drive should never be physically opened, unless by a professional in a clean room. To put it plainly, opening a drive leads to contamination by dust and other debris. This spells a high chance of disaster when the drive is closed and powered on again.

Thank you SouthBit :) - You guys have been added to my phone book for future reference.
I'm such a twat, my wife just told me all those movies are sitting on the PC as well. She used the external for backup...turns out the PC is serving as the backup in this instance :D

Should you see that screw again on something else but you dont know the name, its called a Torx screw, so you will need a Torx Screwdriver.

I don't need to anymore since I have not lost any files. We have another few drives spare so for now I'll just leave it

If you sure you dont need the files on the drive you may open it.
