As if Telkom are not making enough as it is....

"Vodacom’s shareholders – Telkom at 50%, the UK’s Vodafone with 35% and the remainder owned by JSE-listed investment company Venfin – benefited from the good performance by sharing in the R3,4-bn dividend declared by Vodacom."

This really isn't news - Telkom's shareholding in Vodacom is fairly well-known. But I find the R3,5bn dividend slightly frightening! Does this mean that Vodacom made enough money out of South Africans to sponsor this-that-and-the-other, blow millions on TV and print advertising and STILL pay R3.5bn in dividends?!?

Somehow our cry for a roll over of data seems so hollow, and unlikely to be heard. Um, Vodacom, can we make that R3.49bn next year, and roll over some data instead? Please?

Actually, now that I think about it: Rolling over our unused data won't even make a difference to their bottom line. We'll just get to use the data we paid for! Imagine that! Last month I spent three weeks in Asia - I had 645MB of data left at the end of the month. And where has that gone? Poof I tells ya! Straight into the great black data hole just west of Upington (I think). Its gone, anyway - never mind where...

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread, Ed, but I really haven't taken a potshot at Vodacom on this forum, and tonight felt like a good time to start. Other than the roll over thing, mind you, I'm quite happy with my 3G stuff...

You would think with this news they would decrease their prices a bit
I still cant believe that Vodacom think they are going to take the market by storm with the new 2mbps offering they are going to release later on. No1 is going to be able to afford it at their current prices
